“Above all else, guard your heart, for out of it flow springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23
In my heart there’s a place only for two things. The word “heart” is mentioned 800 times in the Bible and whenever is used, it never speaks of the actual pump organ, but it refers to the heart as the center of the human personality. It’s written:”as the man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7). And in the book of Acts 15:9 it reads that God has cleansed the hearts of the gentiles making no difference. It’s crucial to understand what really happened after we got saved, something greater than ourselves. Romans 5:5 speaks of this immense thing-God already poured out His love in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. For this very reason I mentioned earlier that I only have place in my heart for two things: God’s love and the Holy Spirit. If I replace them or even if I put my wife wholly in it, then I have set myself for calamity. Because then, there will be no one to teach me how to love my wife. There will be no one to lead me in the whole truth, to guide me what to do and to remind me of everything what Jesus taught.
So, let’s be on watch and guard our hearts solely for God’s love and the Holy Spirit.
