Living according to the Spirit

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8:5

The churches around the world struggle sometimes with the ambition for great change. But the change will only occur when bad theology is replaced with the living Word of God and when the Holy Spirit is allowed to work within us so He can accomplish what He’s set to do.

Once, when I asked the Holy Spirit why people aren’t blessed more, to be prosperous in their gifts, in their serving, in their serving so they can be mightier, more successful, to preach the gospel on television, radio…

The Holy Spirit corrected me with His question: “do you think that you are able to wish for them better things than Me?”

I understood then why He can be grieved. It’s when His children aren’t desiring the things on His heart and when they are satisfied with things below His standard.

He is grieved when believers are governed by tradition in fear, not following Him. Jesus Himself was preaching against the religion and tradition. He knew that tradition is the enemy of the Holy Spirit. And on the other hand, in the Holy Spirit is the whole essence of the abundant life Jesus promised. He possesses it now on earth. And the entire humanity is not enough to express this life that is in the Holy Spirit. Now think! How much He desires to prosper us!
