The attitude of gratitude

“In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 1:18

The attitude of gratitude is essential for our life primarily because it is the act of the Holy Spirit and it is His product. In other words, gratitude is the very gift of God. While at it, let’s make it clear and out in the doesn’t say: “…be thankful for everything…” If that were true it would mean we should be thankful for sicknesses or problems. It says to be thankful in every circumstance so God becomes the focus..not the circumstance itself.
When we don’t develop the attitude of gratitude, we become alienated from the peace of Christ. Basically being aware of God’s grace and understanding it it’s what makes us grateful. Gratitude is the key that opens doors for God’s promises to manifest. Many believers deceive themselves thinking that just because they know God is faithful to His word and if they just declare it without the attitude of gratitude, it must come to pass. No! We must act primarily because we are so thankful to Him. If we lack gratitude in our hearts for what we have been given in Him(all the small everyday things and all the great revelations, gifts, callings), we won’t be able to be thankful for what we give and serve, and we’ll miss out the things that are meant for us waiting to be revealed and manifested. If we invest in anything, we should invest in nurturing the grateful heart inside of us. It will attract heaven, it will open a way for the nonbelievers. All for the glory of our Father!
