“If then you have been raised with Christ to new life, sharing His resurrection from the dead, aim and seek the eternal treasures that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. And set your minds and keep them set on what is above, the higher things, not on the things that are on the earth.” Colossians 3:1-2
Jesus said of Himself He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one before Him or after has said such powerful statement which actually is the declaration of life for those who believe it. We, ourselves-because we believe in Him are on our way which is Christ. The first disciples didn’t call themselves Christians but followers of the Way! Jesus is the Alpha and Omega for us now.
Having Him in our hearts and in our lives makes us gain the perspective of eternity because our lives are eternal. We no longer associate with the temporary things from this world. Yes, all of us face the challenge of being influenced of the circumstances that certain thoughts or deeds create-whether is good or bad. Yet, these circumstances and situations are temporary comparing to the eternal truth that makes our current situation a subject to change-if we agree with the absolute truth that Jesus speaks for our momentary(no matter how long it is or seems) circumstance.
Let me clarify one thing:when we decide to agree with Jesus’ truth for whatever we’re facing, that doesn’t mean we are denying what’s happening or that God for that matter expects us to do that. Absolutely not! But rather we choose to view the situation through the eyes of God’s truth. Don’t focus on what’s around you, but what’s in God’s Word.
In Colossians 3:2 the Holy Spirit exhorts us to keep on training our minds to think and imagine the heavenly things, in order to be able to make wise choices and discernment what is eternal truth..
The true and momentary realities in our lives will challenge us to perceive whether we live in a lie or according to the truth that Jesus speaks.
He is the Author of life and from Him only grace and truth come. He will always speak and bring life even in situations where death might try to throw a shadow over the dreams and desires; or pain and sickness try to create an illusion of terminal state.
Jesus speaks words of His life that shut down the works of lies.
He sustains life!
