“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction; with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Quite often (if not always) when people hear these verses they think this refers only in case of death, that God is God of comfort when somebody losses someone close.
Comfort is not a feeling, but rather a condition where God provides and exit from the circumstance we’re in. Comfort is a solution for the things which burden us. God is God of comfort because He has the solution.
All the gifts that we read about in the Word aren’t given just to make us feel good, but they have a purpose-they are the key and the answer for the problems within us and around us.
Wisdom as a gift is the solution to a problem that occurs in the church.
The Word of knowledge is the answer to ignorance.
Knowledge helps in dealing with situations in our lives and in the church.
Prophesy is a gift which reaches out for the spiritual truth behind one’s mental state, and the prophetic words bring forth answers we need.
All the gifts are the answer and the solution to problems. We tend to pray God to simply remove the problems from us. But here is the truth: problems will follow us (don’t be discouraged by this). Not because God has something against us, but because we possess the solutions for the problems, and they(problems) exist for one purpose-to be solved!
When we allow the truth to sink in our heart it will enlighten everything and we’ll be able to perceive the solution to the problems.
Let’s not run away from the problems, but let’s stop, take a deep breath and ask God for wisdom.
Grace enables wisdom to bring good decisions.
