Gifts And Callings

“…God saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of His own purpose and grace, which He gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, Who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel… – 2 Timothy 1:9-10

Each one of us has gifts and callings upon our lives.
And they will pressure us-so to speak, to allow ourselves to be challenged and to be submissive to the Holy Spirit. We ought to be ready to go all the way.

What is the one thing we ought to be ready to go all the way for?
The letter to Hebrews 11:1-4 gives a great insight for this…it should be Jesus! It’s always all about Him. He is the motive for us to go all the way. People of whom this passage in the Word refers to were waiting for the promised grace to appear. And that is Jesus in us through the Holy Spirit.

For us, the believers of today who are filled with the Holy Spirit there’s the ‘advantage’ of carrying the anointing constantly, thus ‘by default’ we become greater example (or should pursue that goal as our utmost) for others than those people in the OT.

Of course we feel the pressure when we face challenges (just as those in the OT); yet we are able to withstand the pressure in a mighty way. How is that possible?! “By the Holy Spirit Who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.” (2 Timothy 1:14).

The Holy Spirit brought with Himself great investment in us. Do we perceive that this investment consists of callings, skills, gifts…?!
And we might doubt whether we are worthy at all or worthy enough for this great, the greatest deposit ever which has been given to us.
Yet, in God’s ‘economy’ we have met His condition: He considers us worthy of His trust and as the previous verse points out-He entrusted to us the Holy Spirit (and all of His richness) to assure us we are worthy in His eyes.
That’s how much He trusts us…
