Jesus-the true foundation

Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock…

If the spiritual experiences aren’t sustaining the understanding of our identity in God; or if the truth of God isn’t our truth, then for us anything else will have the tendency to be the “truth”. And this momentary, incomplete truth is passing. Probably we won’t fall immediately but if we hold on to it and try to make it a pillar of our lives, eventually the foundation underneath our feet will fall apart and then we’ll ask the question why..or where’s  God now?

He was there the whole time, building us another firm foundation-the real truth, His truth, but we decided to hold on to the physical circumstantial truth, therefore we fall. For us is crucial to know what we believe and to know the foundation in our life. That foundation is Jesus-as Paul stated. And he continues on saying that he laid a foundation, which is Jesus Christ, but each one should be careful how he builds. He lists wood, hay and straw which are perishable, but let’s remember what Jesus taught of the wise man who built his house on a rock. The storm came but he was spared. So, when Jesus comes, this man will stand, because he stands on the rock.
