“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.” – 1 Corinthians 2:12-14
It is extremely dangerous for us to call upon or to stick to the wisdom of this world. It is written in the Word that the wisdom of this world is demonic. There are many so-called truths that seem to be true, but since they do not come from the Spirit of Truth, they remain “truths,” and in fact they are lies.
There are many Christians that try to live honestly and truthfully, but according to the truths of this world. A man can be a good Christian and realize that he has been mistaken for a long period in his life because he lived only according to the truth of the culture and the dominant opinions that surround him. He realizes that even though those things seemed to be good, they were not inspired by the Spirit of truth.
Some Christians live in a “truth” that only they think is “true,” and it is actually misbelief. Most often, the theological or doctrinal beliefs make a believer stubborn and unwilling to change. Wrong teaching produces bad fruit. It is therefore wise and useful that we do not allow ourselves to be tied to human teachings which do not yield good results, even if they have been practiced for a long period of time.
Certainly, there are some basic Christian beliefs that are valid for all and through all centuries, but there are also things that have become attached to the Christian faith over the course of time that do not come from the wisdom of God.
No man living in the truth of God is bound and captive! For we have already received in our heart the things from above, and with our mind, we already think as citizens of heaven. And when we speak, we speak the heavenly things that change the atmosphere around us.
