”For you were called to freedom brothers! Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” -Galatians 5:13
From the very beginning in Genesis we see that God created people with free will as part of their personality. And although not so many sermons and teachings about it, still free will is a crucial part of our existence because it’s woven in our daily decisions and it does affect our choices in a great way.
The free will is also very active in the lives of those who don’t serve the Lord. And while the free will is the absolute blessing to one’s life committed to Christ, on the other hand it can very powerful and I may add-a destructive force in the life of the individual that doesn’t serve the Lord, because if the person is not serving God and His Kingdom then by default he serves the kingdom of darkness.
Yet even then, the free will is active. When a Christian person testifies and shares Christ, something happens to the free will of the listener. It begins to vibrate and stir within for it ‘senses’ something is out there to bring the freedom it longs for. No human being was created to be captive and every human soul yearns to be saved. So when we speak the words of truth that Jesus died on the cross for the sin and rose for our justification; the Holy Spirit Who is listening to those words-and words are important, He turns them into power and energy connecting them with His holy will and the free will of the listener gets strengthened to accept Christ.
Once the decision has been made, the Holy Spirit continues with His work fueling the free will to be constantly active in the life time commitment to Christ.
It’s truly amazing how the Holy Spirit does this wonderful work with the free will, being the greatest Respecter of it!
